Carl H. Dull passed away peacefully at home, with his wife and son by his side, on December 31, 2020.
He had lived in Red Bluff, California since 1993. He was born on May 6, 1934 in Waynesboro, PA to parents, Frank and Margaret (Oliver) Dull. A private family service will be held. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Naomi Bradley Dull, and son, Marcellis Alexandré Dull of Red Bluff. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Red Bluff, CA.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Ted Dull of Waynesboro, PA, Ray Dull of Chambersburg, PA, and Janet (dull) Crone of Waynesboro, PA. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
Carl was educated at Waynesboro Senior High School, PA, Zion Bible Institute, East Providence, RI, Eastern Bible Institute, Green Lane, PA, American Academy of Millinery, NYC, NY, Edy's School of Beauty, Chambersburg, PA, The School for Deacons, Castro Valley, CA, Empire College, Santa Rosa, CA, and numerous advanced training seminars throughout the U.S. and London, England.
Music played an important role throughout his life, studying at the College of Church Musicians, Washington National Cathedral, Washington, D.C. A tenor, he appeared in Off-Broadway musicals, summer stock, community theaters and was a tenor soloist for numerous Choral Societies throughout the eastern U.S. He was also a church organist and choir director.
Carl was the author of Well Forevermore , published by American Book Publishers in 2004. He was an Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross, West Park, NY, and the Brotherhood of St. Andrew since 1970. He belonged to the Redwood Empire Cursillo organization in Santa Rosa, CA, since 1991.
While serving with the U.S. Navy, he was awarded the American Spirit of Honor Medal in 1953 by the Honorable Theodore T. McKeldin, Governor of the State of Maryland, at Bainbridge, MD.
He was the founder and CEO of Marcellis Alexandré, Inc. of Norwalk, CT, Provincetown, MA, and Arlington, TX. Carl was Director of Education of Zotos International, Darien, CT, and the owner and designer of Mr. Karl's Custom Millinery, Hagerstown, MD, and Mr. Carl's Hairstyling and Advance Training Center, Waynesboro, PA.
He was licensed as a certified Teacher of Cosmetology and proctor for the Department of Business and Occupational Affairs in Pennsylvania in the 1970s.
While serving as an officer with the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, he represented the State of California in National Ritual Contests in Anaheim, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Chicago, IL, and St. Louis, MO. A Past Exalted Ruler of the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, he received the Gerald Strom's Most Impressive Exalted Ruler Award in 1999 at the California/Hawaii Elks Association in San Diego at the State Convention.
