Charles Edward
Philpot
Jul 16, 1951 — Feb 13, 2025
Charles Edward Philpot-known affectionately as Charlie, Chas, and CarCar-was born on July 16, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah. On February 13, 2025, at the age of 73, he passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side.
For 55 wonderful years, he was the devoted husband of Sue. He was a loving father to Ed and Danielle, a proud grandfather to Sydney and Addison, and, just last year, he received his highest promotion yet-becoming a great-grandfather to little Noella. Charlie was the boot-stompin', family-lovin', hell-raisin' anchor of his family, always bringing laughter, wisdom, and a little mischief wherever he went.
A proud member of the United States Marine Corps, Charlie served his country with unwavering dedication and love for the flag. He exemplified the corp's moto of "improvise, adapt, and overcome" throughout his life. His patriotism ran deep, and so did his knack for fixing just about anything. From a young age, he was a "tinkerer," dismantling bikes and rebuilding engines just for fun. That passion led him to California, where he built a successful career running his own auto mechanic shop and towing company.
When he wasn't under the hood of a car, or completing jobs from the "honey-do" list, Charlie could be found in his yard, waging war on weeds and tending to his prized rose gardens. He took immense pride in having the best-looking yard on the street, and he wasn't shy about letting his family know it.
Above all, Charlie was a devoted family man. He dished out advice, laughter, and the occasional unsolicited life lesson with love. He was the kind of grandpa and uncle who snuck candy (or root beer floats) to the kids when no one was looking and made them sing "Charlie's Great." His greatest love language? Teasing-because nothing said "I love you" more than a good-natured joke.
His family finds comfort in knowing he's now in a place where the roses never wilt, the coffee is always hot, and he never has to spend another day in Facebook jail. His legacy of love, integrity, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Oorah
