Obituary

Christine Jones went home to be with the Lord on April 13th, 2023, just a little less than 5 weeks before her 102nd birthday.   Kris, as she was known by her many friends, was a legal secretary and court reporter for several years, taking shorthand, and typing 120 words per minute.  Later, she became a credentialed teacher for Heald's Business College at their Fresno and Sacramento Campuses.  Then in 1978 she moved with her family to Red Bluff where she taught Business English, Business Math, and Accounting at Shasta College,  business subjects for the California Department of Rehabilitation, and started her own tutoring business for computer and business subjects.  Then in 1994 she and two of her daughters formed Northstate Business College in Red Bluff and Chico where she taught until the age of 82.  At that time, Shasta College was still calling on her to teach, but she decided that she deserved to retire and spend more time with her grandchildren.    Most of her children and grandchildren are now good typists and share her love of table games and Coca Cola.

Kris  is survived by her son, Don Jones and his wife, Denise; and daughters, Beverlee, and her husband, Clifford Penner;  Jeanne and her husband, Chuck Gallaher; and Rhonda and her husband, Ed Roach.  A son, David Wilkes predeceased her.  She will be sorely missed by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Christine loved to read and study the Bible.  She loved her Lord, her family, and her friends.  She made the best fried chicken in the world and the grandchildren will miss her trip-tip sandwiches and chili beans.  Until the day she died, she missed her husband of 45 years, and longed to join him in Heaven.  We, her family, are thankful that she has now done so.
