Edward Mckenzie
King
Sep 2, 1978 — Jun 9, 2025
Edward "Ted" King passed away recently at the age of 46 from medical issues at his home in West Sacramento. Ted had worked in various sales positions involving real estate all over northern California.
Ted was born September 2, 1978 at Beale Air Force Base to Dr. Daniel M. King and Sherry Kissinger King. Along with brothers Andrew and Cameron, Ted's family moved from Tennessee to Red Bluff, CA in 1984. He attended Red Bluff elementary schools and early in life showed a talent for singing, playing the french horn, and acting.
Ted also had a passion for sports and lettered in basketball, soccer, swimming, and golf. In his years at high school, Ted helped lead the Red Bluff High School boys' swim team to league and section titles, and Ted was named to the all-NAL league teams. Ted was a lifeguard and a certified USA Swimming coach who taught many local children about swimming. Ted was smart & funny, and loved being involved with musical productions, the Victorian Carolers, and the Red Bluff High School singing group Phoenix. Ted graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1997. Ted was a true people person, with born charisma, and upon entering lit a room brightly with his presence.
After high school, Ted attended college at UT Chattanooga, TN, became a member of the Moccasins rowing team, studied business economics, sang in the choir, and learned to speak German.
Ted then returned to California and majored in international economics at UC Santa Cruz, swam for the school NCAA Banana Slugs, and was honored as team spirit captain. Ted then settled in northern California doing sales.
He leaves behind his parents, Sherry and Dan, brothers Andrew & Cameron (Amanda Flinn), foster-brother Sergeant-major Bill Allen, daughters Christine and Courtney of W. Sac. and their mother Michelle, as well as niece, Margaux, nephew, Lachlan of Red Bluff, and aunts and cousins in Tennessee. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, July 26th at the Presbyterian Church of Red Bluff at 1 PM, with a reception to follow.
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but rather by the number of moments that take your breath away."
Arrangements are held under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Simple Cremations & Burial Service.
