Ellen Marie Gentry of Red Bluff passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. She was 68.

She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1951 to P.L. and Georgia Stribling. She graduated from Albuquerque High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She and her family moved to Red Bluff in 1988. She taught school in New Mexico and in California, later working for California State University Chico Research Foundation and the Sacramento River Forum. She was active in a variety of community organizations including most recently the Fitzhugh Literary Society. She had a great passion for reading, enjoyed playing the piano, and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John, her daughter Angela Gentry, son Jack Gentry and his wife Dina, brother Parrill Stribling and his wife Elizabeth, and sister Elaine Querry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Shriner's Children's Hospital , St. Jude's Hospital or a charity of choice .

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Red Bluff.
