Gary "Ned" Hudnall November 19, 1935 December 21, 2024 Gary "Ned" Hudnall was born November 19, 1935, to Frank and Evelyn Hudnall in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Meeker High School in 1954 and joined the USAF in 1955. On September 14, 1958, he met Margaret (Dee) Courtney for their first date, in Panama City FL, and 34 days later on October 17, 1958, they were married. In Dee, he found his life partner and a wonderful woman who dedicated her life to caring for and loving him fiercely. In August of 1961, they welcomed their first son, Gary Hudnall Jr. Ten and one-half months later, they welcomed daughter Dedrea (Dede), followed one year and thirteen days later by son Joseph and two years later the family was complete when daughter Sabrina was born.
The Air Force took the family to many different places throughout his twenty-year career. Ned was stationed in Japan, Tampa Fl, Biloxi MS, Naselle, WA, Red Bluff, CA, Condon, OR, Panama City, FL, Ramstein, Germany, and Ft. Lee, VA. While living in Germany, the family was able to visit France, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, and Monte Carlo. While in the military, he worked on computers as well as the flight line. He absolutely loved being around aircraft and could tell anyone that would listen, the ins and outs of any plane he worked on! He loved the Air Force and served his country proudly and honorably, then retired in 1975 and moved back to Red Bluff.
Ned worked for Walker Lithograph from 1976 1997. He then worked for the Opportunity Center as a bus driver for several years before retiring for good in 2001 and traveling around the country in their fifth wheel visiting family and friends. Ned was an amazing bowler, bowling for the USAF 1964 team, coming in fourth place for the entire Air Force. He also bowled in many leagues at Lariat Bowl, where he had several 300 games. He was a talented singer and sang in various choirs over the years. He was also an avid bike rider, riding several 100-mile rides over the years. In his later years, he could be seen riding his recumbent bike daily around his neighborhood proudly displaying the American flag as well as the Air Force flag attached to his bike. He also officiated local football, basketball and fast pitch softball games for over 15 years. He loved his Calvary Chapel family and enjoyed attending services.
Whenever you ran into Ned, he would leave you with "have a blessed day", or if you asked him how he was doing, he would always respond with "I'm blessed." He loved his family deeply and would tear up at the sight of one of his children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren. He was happiest when he was around his family. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of sixty-six years, Dee Hudnall, daughter Dede (Mark) Gunsauls, son Joseph (Lisa) Hudnall, and daughter Sabrina (Stu) Perry. Grandchildren Jeanetta (Justin) Woodside, Justin (Tiffany) Gunsauls, Kevin Hudnall, Kyle (Rachel) Gunsauls, Seth (Lindsey) Gunsauls, Bryar Perry, Janea (Tyler)Schuller, Andrea (Tyler) Weathersbee, Kurt Hudnall and Christopher Hudnall. Thirteen Great Grandchildren, Keelie and Adler Woodside, Parker, Isaac, Paisley, Grace, Brighton, Gavin, Asa and Ruby Gunsauls, Leonard Hudnall, Clint and Jacquline Weathersbee, and sister, Judy (Mike) Miley He was preceded in death by his son Gary in 2021. Papa "GG" will be profoundly missed but we find great comfort in the fact that he is with his Heavenly Father and singing with the angels.
