Obituary

Karl John Wahl 10/17/24-9/22/18 Karl died on 9/22/18 at the age of 93. He was born in Red Bluff to Agnes and Karl Wahl Sr. He grew up in Paskenta and rode his horse 4 miles to school one way until the 8th grade. His family then moved to Red Bluff. He attended local Red Bluff schools and played football, basketball and was in FFA. After high school, he attended the College of the Pacific before enlisting in the armed forces in the Marines. He later went to the Navy where he served as a Lieutenant in World War 2. After his time in the service, Karl went back to Chico where he finished out his schooling and married the love of his life Elizabeth. Karl was a long time employee at CSU Chico where he held many positions ending with his final career as Director of Facilities Planning. During this time, he also ran cattle in Paskenta at the family ranch. Karl was in several service organizations in his lifetime including Rotary, Kiwanis, Elks, Masons and in his later years; Shriners. He.was a past director for the Silver Dollar fair in Chico and was acting president for several years. He was also invited to serve for the Fair board for the state of California in which he served two terms. In his later years, Karl and "Libby" spent their retirement traveling in and around the country, visiting all 50 states. They cruised and traveled to different lands, seeing everything that they wanted to see. In his lifetime, he traveled to over 40 countries. In a few years, they went to many major attractions including the Tucson balloon festival, the Indianapolis 500, the Kentucky Derby and everything else that they were interested in seeing. His favorite places to visit were Alaska and the Panama Canal. Karl was very involved with the rodeo and attended rodeo events for many years including the Grand National Horse Show, the Red Bluff Round Up, the Pendleton rodeo and the National Finals in Las Vegas. He was a member of Comanche Riders. After the death of his beloved wife in 2003, he married Grace Anderson who passed away after 10 years. He leaves behind his daughter; Margie Wahl of Red Bluff and two grandchildren Cherie and Dakota and daughter Janice Herman of Oceanside. A celebration of his wonderful life will be held at the Elks Club in Red Bluff on 10/19/18 at 1:00 p.m.
