Obituary

Kenneth James Figueroa passed away suddenly, July 12, 2025 with his wife by his side.

He was a loving and devoted husband to the love of his life , Wendy. He was 67 years old.

He was born November 6, 1957, in Daly City, California to Rita and Julie Figueroa. After high school where he started his Rodeo career, he attended Hartnell College in Salinas, where he was the captain of the rodeo team competing in bull and saddle bronc riding and making it to the College National Finals.

After graduating from Hartnell he went on to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a scholarship to compete on the Rodeo team. During this time, he earned his card in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, eventually becoming a proud Gold Card life member. After college he returned to Hartnell College to coach the Hartnell Rodeo Team.

He then moved to Hawaii to manage the largest draft horse and carriage program in the world and the only one in the tropics at the Westin Kauai. After hurricane Iniki, he and his wife returned to the mainland settling in Red Bluff, CA where they lived for a period of 33 years.

He spent several years as a PRCA judge before joining the California Department of Corrections. He retired in 2024 out of Ishi Conservation Camp, where he worked for many years alongside Cal Fire and the inmate fire crews. During his rodeo career as well as the time with the Department of Corrections he made many lifelong friends that he treasured always.

He leaves behind his father Julio Figueroa, brothers Gregory and Richard Figueroa, sister Janine Figueroa, brother in law Robert (Alison) Winter, eight nieces and nephews, his Wife Wendy, beloved dogs, Mick, Tucker, and Bert and countless friends. There will be a Celebration of Life, November 15, 2025 from 11:00 3:00 at The Bluff, 20200 Live Oak Road, Red Bluff, CA.
