Obituary

Larry "Brook" McDonald, 77, of Paynes Creek, CA passed away at home on Monday, February 28, 2022.
Brook was born on June 19, 1944 in Forum, Arkansas the son of the late Earl McDonald & Lela McDonald Wernett. He was the fourth oldest of seven children. The McDonald's settled in the Los Molinos area along with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He attended local schools and enjoyed large family gatherings.

On October 10, 1962 Brook married the love of his life, Linda Henderson. They spent most of their lives in Red Bluff raising daughters, Nanette (Paul) Emmen, Tammala (Greg) Pennington, and son Bradley McDonald before building a home and retiring in Paynes Creek. Brook retired from the Teamsters Union after many years with Minch Meats, Rawson Drug/McKesson Drug Company.
Brook loved hunting, he made many trips out of state with Linda and friends, and there was not a stream, river, or lake he didn't like to fish, besides his annual trip to the coast with old friends. When Brook wasn't hunting, fishing or playing golf, you could find him on the ball field with Linda nearby. After Brook stopped playing fastpitch and slowpitch softball, he began many years of coaching, managing local and traveling tournament teams. Many of the guys travelled from the Chico/Redding areas to play ball for Brook, teaching a whole new generation a love of the game.

Brook is survived by his wife Linda of 59 years and all of his children. Grandchildren; David Smith, Braden Pennington (Melanie), Calen Pennington, Lane McDonald, Ashlyn Pennington, Ashlee Terras, Brittany Roe (Daulton), Emma McDonald.
