Obituary

Lillian Marie (Gildea) Lewellyn was born on January 8th, 1937 in Corning, CA.
She left her family after a long and wonderful life on February 23, 2022 at the age of 85. Lillian is survived by her daughter Susanne Lewellyn-Claxton (Steve) and her two sons, Dave Lewellyn (Liz) and Alan Lewellyn. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Christopher (Lindsay), Brooke and Erik and one great grandson, John David (JD). Lillian is also survived by her brother Charles Gildea (Ruth) of Corning, CA, sister Donna Campbell of New Braunfels, TX and several nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her sister Georgia Alexander, brother-in-law Fred Campbell and husband of 61 years, Arthur David Lewellyn Jr.

After graduating from Corning Union High School in 1954, Lillian made her way to San Francisco where she attended beauty school. While in San Francisco she met her future husband, Art. They married in Reno, Nevada on November 19, 1955 and remained living in San Francisco raising their three children until moving to the East Bay in Richmond in 1971. Lillian was known to her family and friends as "Sis". Her nieces and nephews
called her Aunt Sissy and her grandchildren called her Grandma Sissy. Sissy was also the name she used in the home businesses she created. She called those businesses Sissy's Daycare and Sissy's Flowers and Things. Lillian's creativity was evident throughout her life. She enjoyed making
decorative craft items first for family and friends and later promoting and selling them at craft shows. Her wreaths, holiday decorations, painted plant pots, handmade greeting cards are just a small sample of what she enjoyed creating.

In 1994, Lillian returned home to Corning where she and Art retired. Once back in Corning she was surrounded by her family and longtime friends from years past. She organized family reunions and high school class reunions for the 1954 Corning High School class. She enjoyed her frequent outings to Rolling Hills Casino and McBrayer's Hometown Café where she could meet and talk with old and new friends. Lillian looked forward to her card class where she spent the day with others making a variety of cards for holidays, special occasions for family and friends.

We will miss our mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, friend and neighbor. But for those of us who knew her know the most difficult days are behind her and Lillian Marie Lewellyn is watching over us. If you would like to make a donation in Lillian's name please consider a local
charitable organization in Tehama County where Lillian was born and raised and will forever reside.
