Obituary

Margaret Elaine Reed Thyne was born on May 11, 1947, in Red Bluff, California, the first of four daughters born to Raymond and Dorothy Reed. She died on October 5, 2022 following a long battle with diabetes and other health issues.


Margaret attended Antelope Elementary School and graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1965. She was a life-long member of the Red Bluff Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon for many years. She also was an active member of TOPS.


From an early age, Margaret was inquisitive and creative. She absolutely loved family excursions, especially the many rock-hunting trips.


As a member of the local 4-H club, Margaret discovered her love of cooking. She entered many of her creations in the Tehama County Fair and won multiple first-place ribbons. She furthered her interests by majoring in Home Economics at Shasta Junior College where receiving her AA degree in1967.


In 1967 Margaret married David Regnell (div. 1982) and in 1972 she gave birth to her only child, Raymond Coleman Regnell. Throughout the remainder of her life, Cole was her "pride and joy."


Margaret worked for many years at Diamond International. When the mill closed, she became an Avon Lady. Then when her failing eyesight made door-to-door sales impossible, she opened her Avon store and loved spending Wednesday afternoons with her many friends and customers.


In 1996 Margaret married Dan Thyne. They loved taking trips together. Margaret had an amazing memory and could describe in detail all the places she had been.


Margaret was well-known for her sense of humor and loved to share a good joke with friends. She often reached out to those around her with encouragement and understanding in their time of need.


Margaret is survived by her son, Cole Regnell, her mother, Dorothy Reed, her sisters, Twila Rutherford, Marae Lengtat (Bud) and JoAn Warwick (Ken) and by numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Thyne, and her father, Raymond Reed.
