Obituary

Mary Ruth Ashe

Ruth Ashe was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,great-great-grandmother, and the quiet matriarch at the heart of a large and loving family.

Ruth married the love of her life, Corbin Ashe, on December 17, 1954, in North Carolina. In 1960, they moved their family to California, where they built a life and raised their children. Ruth and Corbin shared more than 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.

Ruth devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was

happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. She especially treasured time with her children and caring for her grandchildren, and as her family grew through the generations, so  did the number of lives touched by her love and care.

She had a love for the simple things in life. Ruth enjoyed reading, planting flowers, collecting red birds, watching the Green Bay Packers, and shopping for shoes. These were small pieces of a life that was ultimately centered around family.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Ashe; Rita and Steve Nachand; Nita Haggard; Patricia and John Boeckholt; Keith and Marjorie Ashe; and Kennith and Laurel Ashe; as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Corbin Ashe; her son, Granville Ashe; her loving son-in-law, Rex Haggard; and her grandchildren, Charles Bell, Cody Ashe, Wayne Bell, and Shawnia Holler.

Ruth leaves behind a legacy much greater than can be measured by names or numbers. Her

values can be seen throughout the generations that followed her—in the way her family cares for one another, serves their communities, raises their own families, and continues to place family at the center of their lives.

Although her family is large and spread across many places, the love that Ruth helped cultivate has always connected them. Her life will continue to be reflected in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and in the many stories and memories they will carry forward.

She will live on in the memories of the people that loved her mos
