Obituary

Michael "Mike" Vanderbeek, long time Tehama County resident, passed away in his home surrounded by family on September 19th, 2021 in Red Bluff, he was 76 years old at the time of his passing. Mike grew up in Proberta and graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1963. He was drafted into the Marine Corp in 1965 where he served his country in direct combat during the war in Vietnam. During his military service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksman Badge, M-14 rifle.

After his service, Mike worked at Commander and Diamond Lumber Industries for many years before they were closed. He then went on to work as a stocker at Wal-Mart for more than 15 years before retiring. He had many hobbies over the years but none he loved more than working on his muscle cars and riding his Harley motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and his good friends Donny, Ray, Dennis, Ron, John, and Jimmy. Mike will be remembered for his humor and his humble and kind soul. His good nature will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lorraine Vanderbeek, and his brother, Gene Vanderbeek. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Douglas, of Red Bluff; his daughter, Shannah Terras, of Red Bluff; his son, Chris Vanderbeek, of Green Valley, CA; his ex-wife and longtime friend, Chrystal Taylor Dellinger, of Red Bluff; his brother, Ronald Vanderbeek, of Sacramento; his brother William Vanderbeek, of San Francisco; grandchildren, Ashlee Terras, Brittany Terras, Karley Douglas, Eden Bline, Emma McDonald, Madeline Douglas, Blake Vanderbeek, and Riley Vanderbeek; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Logan, Lux, and Kaedyn.

Mike's remains will be laid to rest with full military honors at Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 at 1pm. The family would like to invite those who knew Mike to attend.
