Obituary

Robert Allen Larsen, Major, USMC (ret), 87 of Red Bluff, CA passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Mr. Larsen was born on December 13, 1936, in Benicia, CA and was the son of the late Otto and Ione Larsen. He was the oldest of three children. Mr. Larsen received his BA in Education from San Francisco State. The first in his family to graduate from college. He joined the United States Marine Corps as an officer in 1960 and he retired in 1980.

During his service he was awarded the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with gold star, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 stars, Navy Commendation Medal with gold star and combat "V", Rifle Expert Badge, and Pistol Expert Badge.

After Mr. Larsen retired from the military, he had a successful career in Real Estate and enjoyed raising and training Britney Spaniels for field trials and show in Virginia with his loving wife and two daughters. He was also active in hunting, fishing, and white-water rafting. In 1984, he moved his family to Red Bluff, CA. where he loved to fly fish in the beauty of Northern California. Mr. Larsen is survived by his wife of 59 yrs., Linda Larsen of Red Bluff; daughters, Laura Larsen-Pitcher and Carolyn Bacon; his sister, Lynette Bennet. Mr. Larsen had four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Major Larsen will be held on Friday February 2, 2024, 2pm, at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California.
