Shelley Rae
Renner
Aug 6, 1965 — Nov 13, 2025
Shelley Rae Renner, 60, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. Born in Corning, California, on August 6, 1965, she was the daughter of David Whetstone and Linda (Potter) Connor. Shelley graduated from Los Molinos High School in 1983. She was employed by White Cap in Indianapolis for several years until her health began to decline.
Shelley married Michael Renner in 2008, and he survives.
She found joy in scrapbooking, and gardening fresh flowers and vegetables for her infamous salsa. Through her scrapbooks, she preserved memories and stories that will live on for generations.
She enjoyed cooking for her family and loved the time they spent together. Shelley's greatest blessings were her grandchildren. Her strong-willed personality and kind heart will be greatly missed. Lovingly called "Grandma Nemo", a name she wore with pride and joy, nothing lit up her face more than her boys.
One of the most treasured memories will always be her 60th birthday celebration in Nashville. Shelley and Mike restored the guitar her Dad had given her- a guitar that once belonged to her Grandpa Bud. Watching Shelley and Dave sit side by side, playing that guitar and singing "You Are My Sunshine", was one of the sweetest moments anyone present will never forget. It wasn't just a song- it was generations of love woven together in harmony.
Shelley is preceded in death by her mother, Linda Connor.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Michael Renner; sons, Christopher Hamilton (Samantha), Matt Renner (Samantha), and Jake Renner (Morgan); father and step-mother, David and Melanie Whetstone; grandchildren, Everett, Cason, Brodie, Tate, and Beckett; brothers, Jeff Whetstone and David Roof (Robin); and several extended family members. She is also survived by her dear friend, Veronica Kindley.
Like the gardens she tended, her love will continue to bloom. Like the music she cherished, her song will continue to echo. Shelley will always be our sunshine.
A graveside service for Shelley and her brother, Jeffrey Whetstone, will be held at Los Molinos Cemetery on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
