Werner Tams was born in Germany on March 13, 1936 and passed away peacefully at his home in Red Bluff, CA on September 10, 2022.
He was predeceased by his brother Bruno Tams in Germany. He is survived by his sister Irma Mangels in Kentucky, and two brothers in Germany, Uwe Tams and Johannes Tams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews living in both the U.S. and Germany.
Werner was a professional master upholsterer who had operated his own upholstery business successfully for many years in the SF Bay area. He was an independent man of many talents and interests.
Many residents of Red Bluff recognized Werner as he was often seen riding his bicycle throughout the neighborhood whilst running his daily errands. He was also recognized by many all over Northern California as he was a frequent visitor to numerous Flea Markets located locally and in the SF Bay area. He enjoyed buying, selling, and striking up a conversation with new and old friends.
Some of Werner's numerous proficiencies included carpentry, auto mechanics, plumbing, and repairing home HVAC systems.
His hobbies included reading, hiking, gardening, panning for gold, digging for minerals, and listening to classical music especially with the harpsichord. Werner was a gifted artist who enjoyed working on pen and ink drawings. Some of his beautiful nature scenes won ribbons at the county fairs.
He was also a gifted poet who enjoyed writing poems in his native tongue of German. He loved to tell good stories, especially from his youth growing up in Germany. He researched history and liked to share stories of what he had learned, and he especially loved talking about history when he was together with his brothers. Werner's interests in genealogy expanded the family tree and led to the discovery of new family members previously unknown.
We are all saddened by Werner's passing which is a great loss for all of us, as he was able to enrich our lives with his many talents. He will be dearly missed.
